Tarangire

National Park

Tarangire National Park, located south of Lake Manyara in northern Tanzania, is a very stunning destination known for its baobabs, grassy plains, and impressive elephant herds. Tarangire hosts one of the country’s highest concentrations of wildlife, including wild dogs, rare antelope like gerenuk, and an astonishing variety of over 500 bird species.

During the dry season from June to November, Tarangire National Park becomes a crucial refuge for wildlife. Unlike the dramatic Wildebeest Migration in the Serengeti, this movement draws a considerable number of animals seeking water and grazing land. As much of the surrounding area remains dry, the Tarangire River serves as the only reliable water source, attracting herds of elephants, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and buffaloes. Predators like lions lurk nearby, taking advantage of the concentration of prey along the riverbanks, creating a remarkable wildlife spectacle.

It is in this Park that visitors will be able to see threatened as well as endangered species ofsuch as ebony trees, Python, cheetah, elephants, African wild dogs, lesser and greater Kudu, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk and others

Birdlife in Tarangire is just Amazing ! About 550 species of birds have been recorded in the park, which is larger number of bird species than the famous Serengeti.
