Lake Natron

A visit to Lake Natron in northern Tanzania is a unique adventure. Lake Natron, a salt and soda lake, is known for its luminous red or orange color, caused by the high levels of salt and the algae that thrive in the water. The lake is also a key breeding site for the lesser flamingo, with thousands of these birds flocking to its shores during the breeding season.

The area around Lake Natron is full of beautiful landscapes. The lake is set within the Great Rift Valley, with volcanic hills and valleys stretching out in every direction. The white salt flats surrounding the lake shimmer under the sun, creating a striking contrast with the red waters.
