Day 1: Arrive At Kilimanjaro, Tanzania · Transfer to Chanya Lodge, Moshi
Karibu Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be greeted by your Inland Safari Adventures representative and transferred through the night to Chanya Lodge in the Materuni area, arriving to a warm welcome and a quiet first look at Mount Kilimanjaro's silhouette against the night sky. Settle into your room and unwind after the long journey; a light dinner or snack will be available for late arrivals.

Day 2: Materuni Waterfalls
Wake up to your first real view of Kilimanjaro from the lodge. After breakfast, hike through a working Chagga coffee farm to the base of Materuni Waterfalls, a 90-meter cascade tumbling off Kilimanjaro's southern slopes, followed by a hands-on coffee-roasting demonstration with a local farming family. Return to the lodge in the afternoon to relax before dinner.

Day 3: Transfer to West Kilimanjaro
After breakfast, depart the Materuni area and drive through the Maasai plains of West Kilimanjaro to Kambi ya Tembo, a classic tented camp set beneath acacia trees in the shadow of Kilimanjaro, on the migratory corridor used by elephants moving between Amboseli and the mountain's forests. After settling in, head out on an afternoon game drive across the Sinya concession, tracking the region's famous "big tuskers" massive elephants with some of the largest tusks left in East Africa, alongside zebra, giraffe, oryx, and gazelle grazing the open plains. Since Sinya is a private concession rather than a national park, activities here aren't bound by standard park hours, so consider capping off the evening with an optional night game drive after dinner to spot nocturnal wildlife rarely seen during the day.

Day 4: Maasai Boma Visit — Walking Safari — Sundowner
Set out on a guided walking safari with an armed Maasai ranger and your guide, learning to read animal tracks and identify the bush's medicinal plants at a gentle pace. In the afternoon, visit a traditional Maasai boma, where a local family welcomes you into their world. End the day with sundowners on a nearby rise, watching the sky over Kilimanjaro turn gold and pink — and for those wanting more, cap off the evening with a second optional night game drive, taking advantage of Sinya's rare after-dark access to track elephants, hyena, and other nocturnal wildlife by spotlight

Day 5: Transfer to Arusha — Join Main Safari
After breakfast, depart Kambi ya Tembo and drive to Arusha, where you'll join the full group and officially begin your Main Safari.

Tanzania offers exceptional wildlife experiences year-round. The dry season (June–October) is ideal for game viewing as animals gather around water sources and vegetation is sparse, making sightings easier. The green season (November–April) brings fewer crowds, green landscapes, and excellent birdwatching. We’ll help you choose the timing that best matches what you want to experience.
We recommend a minimum of five to seven days to fully settle into the rhythm of the bush, cover multiple ecosystems, and allow for those unhurried, once-in-a-lifetime moments. Shorter trips are possible but tend to feel rushed and the best wildlife encounters rarely happen on a schedule

Game drives themselves are gentle and suitable for most fitness levels you’ll spend time seated in a comfortable, purpose-built safari vehicle. Some itineraries may include optional walking experiences or nature activities which vary in intensity. We design every trip around your personal comfort and preferences.
