This journey is built around the Main Safari through Tanzania’s most iconic parks and highlands; but travelers who add both extensions get the complete arc of the country, from mountains to the plains to the ocean. Start with the Pre-Trip Safari in the Kilimanjaro’s slopes, easing into Tanzania with waterfalls, coffee farms, and the tallest  mountain’s close view before the safari begins. Then, after 14 days immersed in the bush, unwind with the Post-Trip Safari in Zanzibar; trading dust and game drives for white sand, spice markets, and the Indian Ocean. Together, the three segments turn a safari into a full journey: adventure, culture, and rest, in that order. Why not add both of them if time permits?

Day 1&2: Arrival at Arusha

Arusha is where the group comes together to officially begin the Main Safari. Travelers who skipped the Pre-Trip Safari arrive directly into Kilimanjaro International Airport(JRO) and transfer straight here; those coming from the Pre-Trip Safari continue on from Chanya Lodge in Moshi. Either way, everyone meets in Arusha, Tanzania's safari capital, for two nights before heading into the bush. With time to settle in, enjoy a guided visit to the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre, home to one of East Africa's largest art and curio collections, followed by time to browse the Maasai Market for locally made jewelry, textiles, and carvings. For those wanting a closer look at the region's landscape, an optional half-day excursion to Arusha National Park offers game viewing beneath Mount Meru, with giraffe, colobus monkeys, and flamingo-dotted crater lakes. In the evening, the full group comes together for a welcome dinner, where your guide will brief everyone on the days ahead.

Day 3: Drive to Makuyuni Park

Depart Arusha and drive south along the Tarangire-Manyara wildlife corridor to Makuyuni Wildlife Park, a hidden gem where rolling hills and dramatic mountain views meet rich, varied wildlife. Less crowded than the region’s better-known parks, Makuyuni offers a rare mix of wide panoramic vistas and intimate wildlife encounters, home to elephant, Maasai giraffe, buffalo, oryx, wildebeest, lesser kudu, African wild dog, lion, and zebra, alongside a rich diversity of birdlife, reptiles, and amphibians. Spend the afternoon exploring the park at your own pace: You can choose, a guided walking safari, or for the more adventurous, an evening nighttime safari to spot nocturnal wildlife rarely seen during the day. For those wanting to slow down further, the park also offers a peaceful picnic spot, birdwatching, and a cultural visit to the adjacent Maasai tribe, offering insight into local life along the corridor.

Day 4: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

We enter the park today, Tanzania's third-largest, known for its ancient baobab trees and one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Africa. Enjoy game drives along the Tarangire River corridor, where large herds of elephant, buffalo, and giraffe gather, along with the tree-climbing lions the park is known for.

Day 5&6: LAKE NATRON & OLDOINYO LENGAI

Drive north along the Great Rift Valley escarpment toward Lake Natron, a shallow, mineral-rich soda lake beneath the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai. Enjoy a guided walk to the Ngare Sero waterfalls, wading through a natural gorge and freshwater pools carved into volcanic rock. On your second day, explore the lakeshore, often tinted pink by flamingos gathering to breed. A festive send-off from Lake Natron: a barbecue dinner set up lakeside as the sun drops behind the escarpment, with music, good company, and one of the most striking sunsets of the trip. You can opt to climb the active Volcano for an early beautiful view on top.

Day 7&8: NORTHERN SERENGETI

An early departure for the long but spectacular drive into the northern Serengeti, with game viewing along the way as the landscape opens into endless plains. The next morning, we set off very early to explore the Mara River region and Lamai Triangle, one of the least-visited and wildest corners of the Serengeti ecosystem. Arrive at camp near the Mara River, famed for its dramatic wildebeest and zebra river crossings during the Great Migration (seasonal). An evening game drive along the riverbanks, watching for crocodile and hippo.

Day 9: SERENGETI CENTRAL

Depart the north and drive south into central Serengeti, with game viewing continuing along the way through the Seronera Valley, prime territory for lion and leopard. Afternoon: Arrive at camp with time for an evening game drive before dinner

Day 10&11: SOUTHERN SERENGETI(NDUTU)

Continue south into the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and Ndutu region; Maasai for “endless plains”... timed perfectly for one of Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacles. February falls squarely in calving season, when the wildebeest herds gather here by the hundreds of thousands to give birth, with an estimated 8,000 calves born each day at the peak. The abundance of vulnerable newborns draws intense predator activity, making this one of the best times of year anywhere in Africa for lion, cheetah, and hyena sightings; a true front-row seat to nature’s cycle of life. An optional Hot air balloon safari can be arranged, flying over the Serengeti's endless plains at sunrise, floating above herds of wildebeest and zebra during peak calving season, then touch down to a champagne breakfast served in the bush. An unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime way to see the migration from above. On your second day, continue exploring the short-grass plains, with your guide tracking recent sightings and predator activity reported by other vehicles and camps across the area; February’s dense concentrations of wildlife mean game drives here rarely go quiet for long.

Day 12: NGORONGORO CRATER

Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater for a unique experience. The crater was formed more than 6 million years ago when the volcano's summit collapsed, creating a giant hole. Over time, the area has attracted large numbers of animals thanks to the year-round presence of water and food (it's a paradise), an estimated 25,000 animals live here. After the safari, we'll continue on to the town of Karatu, where your accommodation is located.

Day 13: LAKE EYASI – KARATU

In the morning, you will visit the two indigenous tribes of Lake Eyasi; the Hadzabe and the Datoga, for a rare and enriching cultural experience. Learn about their traditional way of life, ancient customs, and deep connection to the land, which has been preserved for generations. After the visit, return to the hotel where lunch will be served. In the afternoon, explore the lively Karatu market, where you can experience local daily life, interact with residents, and browse a variety of fresh produce, crafts, and traditional goods.

DAY 14: DEPART TO ARUSHA

After breakfast, we proceed back to the city of Arusha. Enjoy a local lunch in Arusha. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your return flight or continuing on your next destination Safari. marking the end of the Main Safari.

Tanzania offers exceptional wildlife experiences year-round. The dry season (June–October) is ideal for game viewing as animals gather around water sources and vegetation is sparse, making sightings easier. The green season (November–April) brings fewer crowds, green landscapes, and excellent birdwatching. We’ll help you choose the timing that best matches what you want to experience.

We recommend a minimum of five to seven days to fully settle into the rhythm of the bush, cover multiple ecosystems, and allow for those unhurried, once-in-a-lifetime moments. Shorter trips are possible but tend to feel rushed and the best wildlife encounters rarely happen on a schedule
